The Basilian crest was developed in the late nineteenth century.
The components are:
- Basilian motto in Latin:
bonitatem et disciplinam et scientiam doce me
- Four quadrants and elements on a shield:
- Chalice: The Sacrament
- Open Book: Knowledge
- Fleur-de-Lis and Circle of Rays: The Blessed Virgin, a patron of the Basilians as well as the origin of the Congregation in France
- Cross: Christ and honors St. Basil’s Greek birth
- Colours: Alternating red and green for the four quadrants: green representing life and red the blood of Christ.
