Basilian High Schools “Faceoff” in Latest Basil Bowl

At long last, the Basil Bowl brotherhood between Basilian high schools has found the opportunity to rejoice in “the good ole hockey game.” Over the weekend of January 13-14, 2017, the Shamrocks of Detroit Catholic Central High School travelled to Toronto to play the Majors of St. Michael’s College School, where both teams treated students, parents, and Basilian Fathers to terrific hockey excitement by playing a game on each day and winning a game apiece. Coming to appreciate each other’s skills and talents by facing off on the ice was further enhanced and deepened by Shamrocks and Majors as they joined hands in prayer together at the Eucharist and further enjoyed each other’s company while tucking into a fine dinner that was prepared and served by the St. Mike’s kitchen staff.

Students and Basilian Fathers alike in both schools are hoping and looking forward to this brotherly exchange of slap shots and body checks taking on the reputation of an annual cross-border tradition of “the best game you can name,” because the unity and exhilaration of brothers growing up and facing off in goodness, discipline, and knowledge cannot be contained by borders or boundaries of any kind.
