Since its founding in the early 19th century, the Basilian Fathers has been devoted to education and teaching, notably with respect to the poor and disadvantaged. Our service to God is made real through our teaching and dedication to sharing knowledge. This has led to the formation of many relationships with educational institutions at the secondary and post-secondary levels.

Institutions founded by the Basilian Fathers include St. Thomas University and St. Thomas High School in Houston, Texas, St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto and St. Michael’s College School in Toronto, St. Joseph’s College at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and Catholic Central High School and Cristo Rey in Detroit, among others.

Our founders believed that education was a gift from God, to be shared among all peoples regardless of social or economic standing. Today, Basilian priests work as school administrators, teachers and professors across North American and in Latin America, bringing hope, knowledge, and opportunity with them.
