Toronto - Two more priests were added to the Basilian family on April 19, 2008. Archbishop Michael Miller, CSB (coadjutor in Vancouver) joined the Basilians in Toronto to ordain Glenn McDonald, CSB and Andrew Leung, CSB to the priesthood at St. Basil's Church. Just two weeks after the ordination of Fr. José Del Toro in Houston, the Basilians gathered in great numbers once again to welcome and bless the new ministry of Glenn and Andrew in the tradition of the Congregation.
The following day Fr. Andrew Leung, CSB and Fr. Glenn McDonald, CSB celebrated their first mass at St. Basil's with Fr. Bill Irwin, CSB as the homilist. "The people are God's gift to the priest, it is how he learns about love... the task of the priest is simple, he devotes himself to keeping alive the memory of God on Earth..." Fr. Irwin said as part of his homily, which can be heard in its entirety under Recent News.
Following their ordination, Fr. Glenn will return to Rochester, New York for another year at Christ the King Parish and Fr. Andrew will remain at St. Basil's for a few more months before leaving for Hong Kong for one year of studies there. Please continue to pray for the Basilians and for the newly ordained Frs. José, Glenn and Andrew.
